Four years ago I had a brand spanking new Jetta, was newly in love and life was wonderful! Then I went to get in the car to take C back to her mother’s and to go to work and what do I discover? Someone had slashed my tire. (Who slashed it is a story is one for another day.) Only four weeks after getting the car, I had to replace a tire. Bummer. Flash forward to May 24, 2006; I just got my new Scion tC, 24 days ago and guess what…I got a screw in my tire last night! I took it into the dealer this morning; of course it was in a spot where they couldn’t salvage the tire. They said they could order one, but the tire alone would cost $271!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! One tire, not including labor! Are these tires made out of gold? I said thanks, but no thanks and had them put the spare on. I called around and know that I found one for $60 cheaper and MAY have found one for $180 cheaper (though I wonder if they are really talking about the right low-profile tire).
